Chris Warner - Paul Harris Fellow
On Wednesday, 04 August 2010 the Club had the pleasure of honouring one of our long term and dedicated Members with a Paul Harris Fellow Recognition. Chris Warner has been a Rotarian since 1988 and has contributed to our Club in most key positions including President, Treasurer and Sergeant. Congratulations Chris.
Paul Harris' idea for Rotary, that a group of professional or business people, with diverse interests and talents, should join together in a club with a common aim of making a difference locally, nationally and internationally, was brilliant and is alive and well today.
In our short history, covering 144 current & past members, we have seen many people give enormously to many causes - many have remained at club level but we have seen many also work at district level including many of whom are still greatly involved and, of course, the Club has spawned two District Governors.
Our citation today is for Chris Warner, one of our devoted Members.
Chris joined the club in 1988, soon after we were chartered. Shortly after he moved to Tonga where he remained in Rotary and was collared by the Club as International Director, it was busy indeed for him – everything in Tonga is International.
But it gave him first-hand knowledge of the importance of International involvement by Clubs such as ours.
Returning to Brighton North he assumed the role of Treasurer, before becoming a super sergeant (hilarious in fact) and a wonderful President.
He has remained passionate about International issues, he has fully supported anything aquatic, surface wise anyway, and has given great service to BYAS – Bayside Youth Accommodation Service – as part of that group he taught many young people to drive.
