Board Meeting Summary for September
It was great to see several members deputising for Directors while those people are away. We know that Hartmut is acting for International while Don is away and this month we also had Judith Hyde, Barb Beed and Phil Wheatley deputising at Board meeting.
President’s Report:
Discussion was held about fundraising for the Family Life truck. We will need assistance to achieve this goal. Committee chairs were reminded to copy their Board reports to their committees. A joint meeting will be held with the Sea Scouts. Barry Henderson volunteered to co-ordinate the bCuty2Sea this year
Club Service:
Russell attended PETS and reported that District 9800 has had a decline in overall members and that some clubs are struggling with numbers. Russell thanked Jeff for his help with the Vision Session analysis. The RI Conference will be in Sydney in May 2014.
Youth:
We have decided not to support the approach from Melbourne South regarding "Schoolies Week alternative. On behalf of the committee Barry will confer with Judi and Gerry about the establishment of Family Life cadets. With the acquiescence of school and parents, it is envisaged that these cadets will be Family Life ambassadors concentrating on the collection and distribution of goods for the Opshops. The aim is that this will commence early in 2013. Phil Wheatley felt that Youth Suicide Programme has suffered by not being in District.
Foundation:
The GSE Welcome Dinner on 26 Feb 2013 will be held at Milanos.
Fundraising:
Golf Day will be $250/head to enter. Gold Packages for 4 people + another game has been offered on Golf Link. For the Garden DesignFest RCBN has 5 gardens to provide volunteers for. Limited advertising support has been confirmed.
Fellowship:
Lots of events coming up. Check your RCBN Calendar.
International:
Don is having a difficult time in Tibet - both with weather and politically. RCBN will not participate in the Philippines water project but will continue with the Sabu project with RC Beaumaris. Hartmut is looking into mosquito nets with Club logos.
