Tibet Up-date (17Apr10)
Posted by Don Cullen
Just a small update from mission control here in Chengdu!
I do not have much more to report, except to say that things are now settling in to a rhythm and we are a little more organised than when we first started on Thursday morning.
Our first truck arrived with warm clothing and food in the affected area and is now in the outer reaches looking after the nomads.
As far as the town is concerned, children from a local Orphanage attended class today in a makeshift classroom, supplied by the military, which is fantastic. (They are not Orphans because of the quake). They are not Orphans under our banner, but good news never the less.
The hospital work continues, with Tibetan Village Project (TVP) people translating around the clock. (Imagine being in a hospital where nobody spoke your language)?
We are preparing personal kits for the patients, things like a children's kit, with a comb, toothbrush, etc. A male and female kits with special toiletry requirments. The kits are being financed out of TVP funds and we will also be providing some medicines that are a little above the reach of some patients.
That is about it for now, my best to all at RCBN
