ROTARY INTERNATIONAL CONVENTION

SYDNEY

1 – 4 JUNE 2014

The RI Convention is set for Sydney between 1–4 June 2014.

Already we have expressions of interest from 20 members and partners to attend.

As accommodation is likely to be scarce, and expensive, due to the usual supply and demand pressures enquiries have been made of Harbourside Apartments at 2a Henry Lawson Avenue, McMahon’s Point for rates for a group booking with minimum stays of four nights.

Why McMahon’s Point?

The apartments are situated right beside the McMahon’s Point ferry station and it is two stops and no more than 10 minutes to Circular Quay.

The Convention is to be held at Olympic Park , Homebush and those attending will travel by public transport to the venue either by train or ferry and thus being close to the public transport hub of Circular Quay is essential.

From what was stated at the Zone Institute last November, the public transport for delegates and partners will be free in any event.

Further, McMahon’s Point has a number of small cafes a five to ten minute walk form the apartments as well as a nice restaurant on the harbour outside the apartments and beside the ferry station.

Further we have persons within the club who have stayed at the apartments and can attest to their quality.

Thus for those that are interested the rates currently being offered are –

Standard Studio Non View - $209

Studio harbour View - $275

One Bedroom Lavender Bay View apartment -$259

One Bedroom Harbour View apartment - $310

Two Bedroom apartment with Harbour Views - $495

Two Bedroom apartment low floor with partial Harbour views -$365.

Rates are for two persons in Studio and One Bedroom apartments and for four persons in the Two Bedroom apartments sharing existing bedding.

The rates quoted are, as mentioned above, for a minimum of four night’s stay as part of our group booking.

Sofa beds are available at a surcharge of $30 per night.

The studio apartments are a large bed sitting room with queen sized bed, comfortable seating area, open plan kitchen and bathroom with shower – maximum two people.

The one bedroom apartments have a queen sized bed in the bedroom, separate lounge/dining room, kitchen and bathroom with full sized bath and shower – maximum three people.

The two bedroom apartment consists of a lounge/dining room, kitchen, master bedroom with queen sized bed, second bedroom with two single beds, one bathroom with shower and bath – maximum four people.

All apartments come fully equipped, have daily maid service and complimentary car parking.

To confirm a booking they require a credit card number to secure the reservation. If paying by credit card a surcharge of 1.5% will be added. In the case of a cancellation 48 hours notice is required otherwise the first night’s accommodation will be charged.

From a fellowship point of view the more from the club staying together or nearby the better.

To ensure that we get the group booking discount can those that wish to make a reservation please advise Phil Rowell of the dates of their proposed stay and credit card number as soon as possible so that reservations can be made to secure our bookings.
