Rotarians at Work
Nineteen years ago the RCBN built a pirate ship, Endeavour, as a playground at the beach end of North Road.

Despite the playground being in constant use, it has weathered extremely well. However the sea and weather had finally caused some rotting of the posts. A small group of RCBN members started repair work on Friday and were joined by more Rotarians on Sunday. The Friday group spent the day removing the rotted sections and filling the posts with concrete which then needed a day or so to harden. On Sunday epoxy resin was layered on top and the post-tops sanded and painted. The rails were painted to make everything ship-shape and a group planted beach grasses and small bushes around the playground. As always the area was very busy and a lot of people stopped to watch or ask what the Rotarians were doing.
The work was done in conjunction with Bayside City Council and co-sponsored by Bunnings who donated a variety of materials to the project.
This project was ably organised by Lyn Mortimer. Muffins were provided mid-morning by Petra and everyone enjoyed the morning in the warm sunshine. A job well done. Thanks to all the Friday and Sunday helpers. Another good example of Rotary supporting the local community.
