Barefoot Bowling once again proved a great success.

Our hosts did a great job with an excellent smorgasbord dinner, after which we trotted off to the bowling green for a very competitive hour of fun and frivolity. Daniel and Morris, our tutors, gave us some insights into this vexing sport. How easy it looks; how difficult it really is. Daniel, a young man who now plays in the Club's weekly competition told me that it had transformed his life since joining two years ago, with new friendships and great camaraderie. Would make a good Rotarian, and I told him so! Morris, the Secretary/Manager had other issues to confront, among them problems with local Council disallowing signage to be used to promote the venue to traffic on Nepean Highway. I can't speak for the other teams, but our team - Barb and Phil Wheatley, Alison & Peter Abbott, Garry & Kaye Bradd and Angela Dawson were pretty good. Alison was clearly our CHAMPION, hitting the jack on at least two occasions, although not necessarily leaving her bowl adjacent to same! Phil Rowell seemed better than most at the sport, and deservedly won the sav. blanc. I have no idea who won the red, but it looked a close-run thing with dozens of bowls intersecting everywhere on the green around the prone bottle. Morris appeared worried at that point, and quickly lifted the bottle to ensure a breakage would not stain the green, and the good name of Rotary. Well done the Fellowship team.

Editor: A small Bowls Gallery follows - most of the images speak for themselves. Note that Barb Gordon and Angela were too slick for the amateur photographer to keep up.
