Current Club Projects
The Rotary Club of Brighton North is involved in a wide range of projects across all avenues of service. Each one is described briefly below
- Our major project for 2012-13 is to raise enough funds to purchase a truck for Family Life.
- RCBN participates in the annual sailing programme giving young people from country Victoria an opportunity to sail
- Sponsorship of a team member in the Group Study Exchange team traveling to UK.
- For many years our Club has provided support for a Tibetan Village. One of our members, Don Cullen, travels several times a year to Tibet to continue our assistance with developing schools and local industry.
- Heritage signage around Brighton features the original buildings outside many businesses and homes that look rather different now. We are continuing to add to these signs in collaboration with the local council.
- The annual Vocational Excellence Awards will be presented in February 2013. Nominations are currently being sought for people who have made an outstanding contribution to their business or organisation.
- We are seeking nominations from several local colleges for sponsorship to the annual Science Experience.
- A recent Mega Swim raised over $20,000 for Multiple Sclerosis (MS).
- We have a scholarship for an indigenous person studying at the Caroline Chisholm Education Foundation. This year's recipient is studying for a Diploma in Illustration.
- RCBN is looking for suitable applicants for the Shine On awards that are presented each year to people with disabilities who have given service to the community.
- With the Rotary Club of Beaumaris we are implementing a Safe Water Project on the island of Sabu.
- We assist each year at the Garden DesignFest during which gardens around Bayside are open for public viewing. To be held this year on 17 November.
- We also help at events such as the City2Sea and Go the Tan

- Recently two of our members travelled with a small group of Rotarians to Nganambala, a Top End school in Northern Territory, to help dig and plant a vegetable garden around a water tank they purchased and installed at the school. The children and local community helped and are continuing to develop the garden.
