Commentary from our Scribe
Enjoy Jim's commentary of last week's meeting
The meeting kicked off in the usual raucous style, prompting the Headmaster to chastise the students for talking in class. Russell then proudly displayed the scarf and woggle he was presented by the Sea Scouts last week – the new Presidential bling it appears. Good to see a strong relationship developing with the scouts. He then confused some by starting the meeting with his quote, which predictably incurred the wrath of the sergeant later in the meeting!
The RC of Brighton is having a 40 year birthday bash soon – Russell will advise the details at a later time but it is to be a Black Tie affair.
Then Mort’s phone rang and most of those present made sure the Sarge was aware whose phone it was.
Several good directors’ reports followed, particularly International Don who gave us some sobering info on Malaria. Kate advised there was a Rotary Leadership Institute Part 1 course this Sunday – any members interested please contact her a.s.a.p. Mort (after his call) advised that he was in communication with the website designer and development of our new platform was on track.
Wine was provided for the meeting by Ian and Jill, proud first time grandparents of Banjo, who weighed in at 9lb 7oz – thank you Ian and Jill and well done!
Judith gave us an update on Barrie – the best wishes of all members of the club are extended to Barrie and Glennie.
Chairman Trevor then asked Pierre for the fact of the week, which he did with Gallic aplomb, enlightening us with some stats about District 9800.
